Charles E. Lantz was born March 20, 1928, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Howard Lester and Ida Mary (Bandfield) Lantz. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann O'Brien on October 3, 1948, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. She died November 20, 2002.

He was a 1947 graduate of Cedar Falls High School. He began his employment with Chamberlain Corporation prior to graduation. He remained with Chamberlain as a Tool and Die Maker until retiring in 1990.

Charles received two Purple Hearts while serving with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, playing chess and camping with his family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, and served as usher for many years.

Survived by two daughters, Ann S. and Don Daws of Cedar Rapids, IA, Linda L. and Jeff Doughty of Cedar Falls; a son, David C. and Eyasmin Lantz of the Philippines; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Geneva Till.

Charles died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, Donald and Howard Lantz; four sisters, Irene Phelps, Lucille Whitney, Mary Saunders and Florence Friis.
