John J. Shannon. 6O, early day resident of northeastern Iowa and for many years a real estate operator in Waterloo died late last evening of complications at the home of his brother, Frank J. Shannon, 421 Cherry Street. He had been in poor health for the past three years.
Mr. Shannon was born July 6, 1866, in Omagh Tyrone County, Ireland, and came to the United States with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Shannon, when he was 7 years of age. The family located at Fairband, Ia. Mr. Shannon retained his residence in Black Hawk County or Waterloo the remainder of his life.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Anna Thom at Rockford, Ill., Dec. 24, 1906. She preceded him in death July 4, 1925.
Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: F. J. and P. H. Shannon, Waterloo: P. K. Shannon, Kast
St. Louis. Ill.; Mrs. Annie L. Logan, Brook. Minn.; Mrs. T. H. Kirk, Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. H. A. Pauls, Washington, Ia.The body is at the O'Keefe & Towne Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.
