Dorothy S. Thornton, 73, of 620 W. Third St., died Thursday, Aug. 1, 1991, at her home of cancer.

She was born April 22, 1918, in Minneapolis, daughter of Iver B. and Esther Spurrell Loe. She married Randall M. Eckman in 1946, in Cokato, Minn. He died in 1952. She married Dr. Walter M. Thornton on Dec. 16, 1956, in Minneapolis. He died Dec. 27, 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Thornton of Waterloo; a sister, Marion Weyhrauch of Waterloo; a brother, Robert J. Loe of Alexandria, Va.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blessing Cemetery, rural Hudson. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., and where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service.

Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Hospice or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
