Doris Bernice Stilwell was born July 8, 1918, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Knud Christian and Laursine Pedersen. She married Richard R. Stilwell of Waukon on Oct. 4, 1941, in Cedar Falls. Dick died June 27, 1995.

A graveside service for Doris will be held at a later date in Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Stilwell graduated from Iowa State Teachers College Campus Training School and then went to Iowa State Teachers College. She also attended Dickerson Secretarial School. She worked in the office of Laureman’s and DX’s Gas District Office and later was a homemaker.

Doris was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. She was an active member of her church and a member of the woman’s circle. She also was a member in Eastern Star, Cedar Heights Woman’s Club, and a volunteer for Covenant Medical Center.

Doris is survived by a daughter, Jane Boothby (Dick Boothby) of Denton, Texas; son Donald Stilwell (Jill Clancy) of Walled Lake, Mich.; grandsons Mark (Jennifer) of Plano, Texas, and Paul Stilwell of Beverly Hills, Calif.; granddaughters Jill (Curt) Snyder of Andover, Kan., and Jocelyn Tong (Chris) of California; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son, Keith Stilwell; brothers Karl Pedersen, Adolph Pedersen and Victor Pedersen; and sisters Elna Pedersen and Christa Madsen.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Western Home Foundation.
