[Waterloo Times Tribune, Tuesday, November 11, 1902, Waterloo, Iowa]

One of the saddest deaths that has occurred in Waterloo for some time was that of Mrs. O. J. Fullerton at the home on Lime Street at a little after midnight Sunday night. The cause of death was heart trouble combined with other illnesses which made the heart trouble result seriously. The deceased lady had been ill for two weeks but not until last Wednesday was her illness considered serious.

The death of Mrs. Fullerton was a sad surprise to her many friends in this city. While all had known that her health was waning, none had thought her condition more serious than usual, nor that the end was near. Mrs. Fullerton was a kindly lady loved by a host of friends, who greatly regret her death. She will be missed in many circles but more greatly in the circles of her church and in the family circle. For many years, Mrs. Fullerton has been one of the leading members of Grace M.E. Church in this city and was a regular attendant upon divine services at that church. In the church and in its societies, Mrs. Fullerton was always a leader in the work for the good of humanity. In church circles as in all others, she won many friends by her kind gentle manner and these friends have always been hers. Not even until the last did she desert her work in church though being compelled to drop her other work because of her health, but was at her place to within two Sundays of her death. Hers is a death that will be greatly felt in church circles.

To her husband and family, there will be no replacing of the beloved wife and mother passed beyond. At her home, she was always a kind and loving wife and mother. Her loss is irreparable. Until three years ago, Mrs. Fullerton always enjoyed good health. Then she was seized with an attack of pneumonia, which, when she had recovered from its attack, left her with weakened heart. Since that time, she has gradually failed in health until she had become aware of the fact that she could not long live.

Mary Isadora Fullerton was born in Pennsylvania in 1849. She was married to her husband, Dr. O. J. Fullerton in that state and together, they came to Raymond, where for a few years, they conducted a store. Later, Mr. Fullerton went to Iowa City, where he took a course in medicine and returned to this city to practice his profession. They have lived here some twenty years.

Mrs. Fullerton is survived by her husband, O. J. Fullerton and two daughters, Mrs. T. B. Askew and Mrs. C. V. Bodell both of this city. A son, Corliss, died some years ago. Besides this, a brother, Dr. Calkins, of this city, and other members of her family, reside in the state.

The funeral services will be held from the home on Lime Street tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. Rev. T. M. Evans, former pastor of Grace church will officiate. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, beside the remains of her son.
