EARLY WATERLOO RESIDENT DIES
The Associated Press dispatcher yesterday evening recorded the death in Chicago, of Mrs. Mary Fancher Williams, wife of Prof. S. N. Williams of Cornell College. She was for many years a leader in the W.C.T.U. work and editor of The Champion, the union's official organ.
Mrs. Williams was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Fancher of Waterloo, Iowa, being born here in 1855. Her father was the first storekeeper in this city, having started in business in 1853 in a log building located where the federal building now stands. The Fanchers were among the first settlers of Waterloo.
She was married in this city and went to Mt. Vernon to live. She was a first cousin of Mrs. Elizabeth Davison and Judge C. W. Mullan of this city. The family lived in Waterloo east before leaving here.
The decedent is survived by a son and two daughters. Her remains will be taken to Mt. Vernon for interment; the funeral being held tomorrow.

#2:LEADER IN W.C.T.U IS DEAD
The Many friends of the Fancher Mullan and Virden families will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Mary Fancher Williams, who was buried recently at Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she had lived since her marriage in 1876 to Professor S. N. Williams.
She had been editor of the W.C.T.U. "Champion" for five years, delegate for three years to the national convention, and a prominent worker in college and club life, as well as active socially. Great sympathy has been expressed by the temperance workers and community generally for the bereaved family.
Her son, Vernon, is pastor of the Methodist Church in Delmar; daughter, Elizabeth, is wife of Dr. B.F. Lounsbury, a prominent surgeon in Chicago, and daughter, Eva, who has recently been graduated from Cornell college, lives with her father at the old home. Several sisters and her mother live at River Forest, Illinois. Charles at Spokane, Eva at Victoria, British Columbia, and Caro in Oregon.
Her life was full of effort for others and will be an eternal inspiration.
