CEDAR FALLS — Joseph Peter Holtz, 81, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Muskegon, Mich, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at his home from complications of a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Muskegon Heights, Mich, son of Peter and Mary Miscysyn Dzuira. He married Evelyn Naivar June 1, 1946, in Temple, Texas.

Mr. Holtz served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a machine operator at Teledyne Continental Motor Co. for many years.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Plakke of Cedar Falls: five granddaughters; and three sisters, Flora Chandonnet and Stella Arnoldi, both of Muskegon, and Anne Yorks of Nokomis, Fla.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Bill Holtz; and a sister, Mary Alexander.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Catholic Student Center, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple, at a later date. There will be no visitation; his body was cremated.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
