Clara Grace Duecker, 86, of Lisbon, formerly of Frederika, and Waterloo, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

She was born June 30, 1927, in New Hartford, daughter of Ernest Alonzo and Evelyn Marie Jepperson Luck. She was united in marriage with Orville Duecker in July, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kan.

She graduated from New Hartford High School in 1944, and studied pre-med at Iowa State Teacher’s College, Cedar Falls, before receiving U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps training from 1945-1946. Mrs. Duecker worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals. The couple owned and operated a pharmacy in Anthon, for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Frederika.

Survived by her husband of Lisbon; two sons, Steve (Darlis) Duecker of Waverly, Neb., and Scott (Dawn) Duecker of Lisbon; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and three sisters, her twin, Emma (Ray) DeVries of Greene, Barbara Gott of Hemet, Calif., and Laura Jean Catherwood of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by three brothers, William, Harry, and Raymond Luck; and a sister, Nina Carlin.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Frederika, with burial in Alcock Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour befores the service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Alcock Cemetery Association.
