WATERLOO - Chester J. Schuler Sr., of 122 Polk St., died Wednesday Jan. 16, 2002, at his home of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Dewar, son of David and Minnie Reinke Schuler. He married Eunice Lawless on Nov. 30, 1936, in Waterloo.

Mr. Schuler was a contractor in the Waterloo area, retiring as "a superintendent with John G. Miller Construction Co. in 1981. After his retirement he was employed with Carl Schuler Masonry.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Larry of Riverside, Calif., Chester Jr. of Waterloo and David of Houston; a daughter, Jeannie Schuler of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren; a brother, Raymond of Waterloo; and a sister, Elma Taylor of Orlando, Fla.

Preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Michael; four brothers, Floyd, Carl, Roger and Arthur; and three sisters, Mable Goodman, Eva Nottger and Elsie Thompson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Linden United Methodist Church, with-burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
