WATERLOO - Maxlne Thorson, 89, of Waterloo and Marco Island, Fla., died Tuesday Jan. 15, 2002, in Naples, Fla., of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Hendrum, Minn, daughter of Elmer and Emma Enger Rustad. She married Oswald Thorson. Mrs. Thorson was past president of the Waterloo and Iowa State branches of the American Association of University Women and also was chairwoman of the National AAUW Centennial Fund.

Survived by her husband; a son, Thor; a daughter, Sigrin Newell; two grandsons; and a brother, Donald Rustad.

Private family services will be held. The Beachwood Society Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
