Funeral services for Wilbur Y. Sanford, age 67, who died, at St. Francis Hospital, Aug. 9, as the result of injuries suffered the day previous in a fall at the Rath Packing Company plant where he was emploved, were at Petersen Bros.' chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. J. E. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the family lot in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, la. A large throng of friends of the deceased at Waterloo and Jesup were present to pay their last respects. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Morris D. Sanford, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Jay S. Burnell, Minnesota; and A. M. Sanford. Milwaukee, Wis.

Wilber Y. Sanford was born in Redding, Conn., March 23, 1854. He was converted when about 19 years of age and became a member of the M. E. church. He had been a member of Grace M. E. Church for many years, and had served as treasurer for some time.

He was married Nov. 26, 1878, to Miss Nancy Jane Beckley at La Porte City, Ia. Four children were born to this union, all of whom are now living: Rollin E., Waterloo; Jay G., Sioux City; C. H., St. Paul, Minn.; and Mrs. Edna May Miller, Elrose, Sask. The widow also survives. Mr. Sanford's death was the first in a family of four brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Sanford was a resident in Waterloo for 38 years and was well known in church, social and business life.
