Cedar Falls, Iowa- Roger J. Matthias was born August 29, 1937, the son of Paul and Erna (Diercks) Matthias. He graduated from Denver High School and attended the University of Iowa for one year. On July 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Linda Fahrer at College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

He owned and operated J&R sales with his father-in-law, retiring in October of 1999. He was past Commodore of the North Shore Boat Club, served on the board of the Main Street Social Club, and was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.

Roger is survived by his wife, Linda of Cedar Falls; sons, Gregory James (Carol) Matthias of Papillion, NE and Douglas Lee (Denise) Matthias of Cedar Falls; daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Craig of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Miles, Connor, and Reid Matthias, all of Papillion, NE, Jason, Brandon, and Melanie Matthias, and Brianna and Bailee Craig, all of Cedar Falls; brothers, Loren (Peggy) Matthias of Santa Rosa, CA and Arthur (Sally) Matthias of Flagstaff, AZ; and sisters, Doris (Robert) Knupp of Dysart, Nancy (Leroy) Platte of Readlyn, and Kathy (Don) Reuter of Cedar Falls.

Roger died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
