Budd Nicol was born February 12, 1925, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of George Augustas and Ellen (Lunkley) Nicol. He attended Iowa State Teachers College for 3 years and served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. On January 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Katherine Ann Hansen in Waterloo, IA. She died March 20, 2000.

He was employed as an electrician at the University of Northern Iowa and for several years taught electronic at Hawkeye Community College, retiring in 1990. He loved fishing and fellowship with several coffee groups.

Budd is survived by his sons, Jim and David (Tammy) Nicol, all of Cedar Falls; daughters, Cindy (Gary) Yearling of Washburn, Merri (Craig) Watson of Shell Rock, and Terri (Jason) Batla of Cedar Falls, thirteen grandchildren, Shawn, Troy, and Shad Nicol, Candi Buehner, Brad and Brian Yearling, Sara Blake, Scott Nicol, Travis and Tim Ihnen, Nicholas Watson, and Josh and Terra Batla; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Budd died Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Fred and Warren Nicol; and sister, Pauline Law.

Services are scheduled for10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Richardson Funeral Home, with interment in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
