WATERLOO — Gary Stanhope, 72, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital Friday, July 19, 2013, of natural causes.

He was born July 5, 1941, in Waterloo, son of Edward and Irene Anderson Stanhope. He married Judith Brinkema in March 1960. She died Aug. 22, 2005.

Mr. Stanhope worked at John Deere Waterloo Works in the foundry and later at the Product Engineering Center. He also was employed by North American Van Lines, Chase Auto Supply and delivered milk for a time.

Survived by three daughters: Linda (Rick) Hild of Cedar Falls, and Lisa Stanhope and Lori Meyer, both of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Hild, Joshua (Jen) Hild, Mandi (Brian) Oldenburger, Kayla Davis, Jakobi Davis, Chris Meyer and Shantanna Stanhope-Meyer; a brother, Ed (Pat) Stanhope of Waterloo; and his dog, Scooter.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Faye and Harold; and four sisters: Dorothy Bass, Verna Stanton, Marjorie Wersinger and Jeanette Moore.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, where visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday.

Memorials: may be directed to the family or donor’s choice.
