WATERLOO — Anna Rhodes, 85, of New Baden, Ill., formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

She was born July 15, 1928, in Kassel, Germany, daughter of August and Erna Lena Gossman Burghardt. She married Ernest Rhodes on Oct. 16, 1954, in Kassel.

Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker.

Survived by her husband; three sons, Pete Rhodes of St. Louis, Mo., Stephen of East Moline, Ill., and Michael (Angela) of Ballwin, Mo.; a daughter, Janette (Joe) Dally of New Baden; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Anneliese Schmitt of Holland, Traudel Deeds of Florida and Grettel Keller of Germany; and a son-in-law, George Moore of St. Louis.

Preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rita Moore; and a grandson.

According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held.
