WATERLOO - Matthew Wood, 25, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Jan. 25, 2008.

He was born Jan. 23, 1983, in Waterloo, son of Steven and Debra Meyer Wood. He served in U.S. Army in Iraq where he was an Army Ranger in Special Forces. He had played hockey in the USA International in Norway and Sweden.

Survivors include his parents of Waterloo; a sister, Malinda (Carson) Gudgeon of Great Falls, Mont.; paternal grandparents, Stanley and Rose Marie Wood of Waterloo; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Beverly Meyer of Cedar Falls.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home.
