WATERLOO - Thomas A. "Tom" Cannon, 56, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital of cancer.
He was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Peoria, Ill., son of John and Betty Bertles Cannon. He married Barbara Jean Duggan on April 17, 1993, in Waterloo.
He graduated from Muscatine High School and also from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in general studies. He was lead singer in Baby Moon and the Whitewalls. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Cannon worked as service manager for Nelson & Hagy Inc.
Survived by his wife; a son, John at home; two daughters, Haley and Bridget, both at home; two brothers, Kevin (Debbie) of Muscatine and Pat (Sue) of St. Louis, Mo.; and three sisters, Chris (Curt) Donaldson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mary Ann (Tom) Kyllo of Plymouth, Minn., and Maureen Cannon of Bloomington, Minn.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. There will be no visitation at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Haley, John and Bridget Cannon trust fund in care of Barbara Cannon.
He was a very loving person to his wife, children, brothers, sisters, all in-laws and his many, many friends. He was also a huge life long fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football teams. Tom died surrounded by people who loved him.
