WATERLOO - Larry W. Hughes, 71, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Wayne W. and Ione M. Stone Hughes. He married Judy K. Ayers on June 2, 1967, in Waterloo.

Mr. Hughes managed Cadillac Bowling Lanes for several years and later was employed in the advertising department of The Courier for 30 years, retiring as display advertising manager in 2001.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Jeff of Grinnell, and Tim and John, both of Waterloo; a daughter, Tammie (Dennis) Kossifas of Grapevine, Texas; a granddaughter, Peyton Hughes; and a sister, Judy (Jerry) Vogl of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry, in infancy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
