Rites Set
For Hudson
Boy, 3

Hudson Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hudson Funeral Chapel for Christopher Craig Krueger, 3, who was killed Saturday afternoon by a truck while riding his tricycle.

Additional services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery there.

The boy apparently died instantly when he was run over by a garbage truck backing from a private drive into the street.

Driver of the truck was Darell Nelson, 39, of Rt. 1, Hudson. Nelson had just picked up garbage at 114 Sunny Lane, about one-half block from the dead boy's home. Nelson said he had looked around the truck before he got into the cab with the two boys who were helping him, according to Richard Harriman, city policeman. Nelson told authorities he stopped as soon as he felt the left rear dual wheels begin to rise. The accident happened about 2:45 p.m.

Streets here are curbed but there are no siewalks in the area, according to authorities.

The boy is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Krueger of 109 Terrace Drive; twin brothers, Timothy and Anthony; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Myral Smith of Crawfordsville; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Krueger of Iowa City.
