Amelia Gertrude Destival, 100, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Janesville, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at the Elizabeth Martin Center of Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born April 1, 1912, in Boone, daughter of Aleck and Petronella D. Januasuskec Ezarski. On June 3, 1929, she married Florien E. Destival at St. James Rectory, Forest City. He died April 19, 1980.

Mrs. Destival and her husband farmed near Thompson, Lake Mills and Britt, and in 1943 moved to Bremer County, where they farmed in various areas until 1973. She also worked at the Waverly Hospital for 20 years as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Waverly.

Survived by five daughters: Vivian Rieck and Donna (Herb) Flanscha, both of Janesville, Betty (Robert) Kuhrt of Tripoli, Delores (Richard) Harriman of Hudson and Phyllis (Russell) Reynolds of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Phillip (Anita) of Sumner and Myron (Janet) of Denver; 33 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Ezarski of Mason City.

Preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Wayne; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Waverly, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with a 7 p.m. public Scripture service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
