Helen Fries Johnson, 76, of Dike, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born August 1, 1929, in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Eiklenburg) Andreessen. She married Harold Fries in 1954 and later divorced. She then married Byron R. Johnson May 28, 1994 in Nashua, Iowa.

She was employed at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, retiring from there in 1994 and also worked part-time at the Barn Cafe in Dike, prior, during and after Sartori. She was a member of the Stout Gospel Hall.

Helen is survived by her husband, Byron of Dike; sister, Rosie Trueg of Cedar Falls; brother, Roy (Emma Lou) Andreessen of Washburn; step children, Nancy Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Judi Lohman of Tucson, AZ, and Steve (Lori) Johnson of Dike; seven step grandchildren, Derek and Adam Johnson, Allison Durant, Erica Alshawaa, Elizabeth Lohman, Jamee Benson, and Casee Boose; nine step great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marian Andreessen of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Leslie Fries; daughter, Heidi Fries; brother, Edward Andreessen; and brother-in-law, Henry Trueg.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 5 to 7 and also one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
