Kermit W. Spilde was born October 14, 1915, in Plentywood, MT, the son of Anton and Anna (Bowers) Spilde.

He attended Eldora High School, graduating in 1933. On December 27, 1940, he was united in marriage to Iris V. Snapp in Missouri. She died August 20, 2003. He had by employed at Swift and Company in Iowa Falls and then from 1958 until his retirement in 1980 at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a foundry coreman.

Kermit is survived by his daughters, Linda (Larry) McKinney of Cedar Falls, Mary (Dennis) Thurm of Denver, and Susan Haurum of Evansdale; grandchildren, Jeff (Ami) McKinney of Des Moines, Pam (Dennis) Craun of Waterloo, Adam Thurm of Denver, Nicole Thurm of Chicago, and Angela and Michael Webb of Cedar Falls; great grandchildren, Kayla and Daniel Craun of Waterloo and Lana Jean McKinney of Des Moines; and sister, Lillian McKinlay of Spangle, WA.

Kermit died Saturday, November 19, 2005, at the Denver Sunset Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Perry "Bob" Spilde; sister, Dorothea Rogers; and a son in infancy.
