CEDAR FALLS - Ava M. Burke, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Western Home Communities Thalman Square.

She was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Shell Rock, daughter of Robert and Libby Burns Miller. She married James K. Burke on Sept. 4, 1938, in Nashua. He died Nov. 9, 1997.

Mrs. Burke was employed as a pharmacy tech at various area pharmacies.

Survivors include three daughters: Sharon (John) Helming of Bettendorf, Joan (James) Day of Cedar Falls and Jacquelyn (Ronald) Smith of Ames; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Burke Dirksen; a son-in-law, Jon P. Dirksen; four sisters, Lora Miller, Lila Olson, Etta Lobdell and Neva Miller; and three brothers, Merle, Lester and Harland Miller.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. There will be no public visitation. Richardson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
