Wayne E. Pelton, 89, of the Western Home Communities, formerly of Jesup, died there Tuesday, December 20, 2005 following a brief illness.

He was born June 18, 1916, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of Charles and Minnie (Miller) Pelton. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1934. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the mid 1930's helping build Beed's Lake State Park in Hampton, then worked for Clay Equipment, where he met his future wife. On June 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Irene A. Matthias at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died March 1, 2005. He then worked for Shaeffer Pen Company in Fort Madison and finally from 1954 until his retirement in 1976, was employed with Titus Manufacturing, [Waterloo] as a tool and die maker.

Wayne is survived by his son, Dale (Sharon) Pelton of Cedar Falls; daughters, Nancy (Robert) Anderson of Jesup and Karen (Brent) Muirhead of Alpharetta, GA; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Dennis, and brothers, Harold and Eugene Pelton.
