Services for Fern Louise Olson, 80, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at The Kearns-Huisman- Schumacher Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. She died of Alzheimer's disease Saturday (Jan. 3, 1985) in Mesa.

She was born Fern Olson Aug. 26, 1906, in Waterloo, daughter of William and Pearl Herrick. She married George W. Olson on Oct. 2, 1922, in Waterloo.

Survivors include her husband of Mesa; three sons, Gerald L. and Ronald E., both of Waterloo, and George W. Jr. of Beloit, Wis.; daughter, Arlene L. Van Skiver of Waterloo; a brother, Harold V. Herrick of La Palma, Calif.; five sisters: Lucille Diebel of Sonoma, Calif., Jeanette Jurgensen of Waterloo, Anita Owen and Gladys Steege, both of Minneapolis, and Mildred McClintock of Independence; and 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lorentz; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to services Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
