WATERLOO - Vera W. Peterson, 87, of 1810 Hawthorne Ave., died Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 20, 1908, in Harmony, Minn., daughter of Judd and Lillian Bartelmey Benson She married Jennings P. Peterson on Aug. 31, 1929 in Waterloo; he died June 28, 1986. Mrs. Peterson was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1970.

Survived by a daughter, Maureen Albertsen of Waterloo; two great-granddaughters; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Orel Benson of Harmony and two sisters, Arlene Patten of Felton, Calif., and Karol Sersland of Decorah.

Preceded in death by a grandson; four sisters: Helen Risdahl, Marian Alfson, Eunice Ingram and Nelda Benson; and five brothers, Kenneth, Lyle, Manford, Merlin and Keith Benson.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m Friday at O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral Home, and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
