AELMANS, Harrison H. 1938-2006

AELMANS, BOYSEN, MANZER, DIGMAN

Harrison H. Aelmans was born March 17, 1938, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Harry A. and Margaret M. (Boysen) Aelmans.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1956 and attended the State College of Iowa (UNI) for three years. On September 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Bette Lynn Jorgensen at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He operated the family business, Aelman's Greenhouse until it's closing in 1991, then worked at Earle May for 7 years, and most recently was a vocational job coach and teacher's associate at River Hills School, retiring due to illness in November of 2005. He had been a member of the Cedar Falls Jaycees, serving on it's board and during that time undertook the major project of landscaping the new River Hills School. He was also on the board and served as President of the Cedar Valley ARC and was to receive the Legend's Award at the end of this month.

He is survived by his wife, Bette of Cedar Falls, son, John A. Aelmans of Waterloo; daughter, Eva (Dave) Manzer of Rockland, CA; granddaughters, Emily A. and Kate A. Manzer of Rockland, CA; and sister, Mary Ann (Bernie) Digman of Las Cruces, NM.

Harrison died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
