DUNKERTON — James L. Wise, 71, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of Dunkerton, died at home Thursday, July 4, 2013.

He was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Central City, son of James Leroy and Gertrude Leona Wilkinson Wise. He was united in marriage with Jeanine A. Olds on July 26, 1985, in Independence.

Mr. Wise served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He worked for John Deere and Company in Waterloo for 30 years. He also was employed by the former Smith Electrical, Dunkerton.

Survived by his wife of Prairie du Chien; two daughters, Natalie (John) Wissink of Dewar and Kim Schilling of Dunkerton; four sons: John (Lynn) Anderson of Dewar, Dean (Sherrie) Wise of Kenosha, Wis., Steven (Jamie) Wise and Jason Back, both of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon (Dave) Atherton of Odessa, Texas, and Janet (Harlan) Franklin of Central City.

Memorial visitation: 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns Garden View Chapel, Waterloo, with a flag folding ceremony to be conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail at 4 p.m. His body has been cremated.
