Delbert Donald Kurtz, 70, of Nashua, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, July 13, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, Iowa of lung cancer.

He was born March 12, 1924, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Henry M. and Madeline F. (Chevalier) Kurtz. He married Marguerite "Maggie" Rechtfertig on Nov. 4, 1946, in Waterloo.

Mr. Kurtz retired from Deere & Co. in 1984. He was involved with the Riviera Ballroom in Janesville, Iowa and at ballrooms in Fairfax, Iowa and Iowa Falls, Iowa. He also was engaged in farming for many years.

Survived by: his wife, a son, Joseph of Davenport, three daughters, Mary Cae McNellis of Waterloo, Peggy Mumm of Cedar Falls, and Janet Erdahl of La Porte City; 18 grandchildren; four brothers, Paul of Denver, Iowa, Richard of Texas, Arnold and David, both of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Janice Wilson of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Dorothy Woore of Waterloo, and a brother James of Cedar Rapids.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Oppold-Hagarty Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. parish vigil service and an 8 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary.

Memorials: directed to St. Mary's Church or school, Sacred Heart Church or school, or Charles City Hospice, 1003 Gilbert St., Charles City, 50616.
