WATERLOO - Josephine McGee, 78, of 155 Ridgeway Ave., died Friday, Oct. 3, 1998 at home of cancer.

She was born July 5, 1920 in Fairfield, the daughter of Thomas and Clara Dawald Spencer. She married Theodore Stookesberry May 27, 1942 in Yuma Ariz. He was killed in World War II in 1944. She married John F. Magee Sept. 6,1947 at Albert Lea, Minn. He died March 24, 1969.

She had a nursing degree from the University of Iowa and. worked at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines during World War II. She worked for Dr. Thomas Thornton Sr. for many years.

Survived by a son, Terry McGee ot Waterloo; three daughters: Clarann Struck of Cedar Falls, Barbara Lepic of Iowa City and Mary Lou Gushing of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; a sister, Lois Fairchild of Albert Lea.

Preceded in death by a brother, Syd Spencer and a sister, Elizabeth Anderman.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Vistation from, 4 to 8 p. m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Home - West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service.
