Carrie Caroline Armstrong

Caroline was born July 30, 1911, in Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Rotger and Janna (Freese) Rotgers. She graduated from the Chicago School of Nursing. On June 13, 1930, she was united in marriage Gerald T. Armstrong Sr. in Eldora, Iowa. He died September 30, 1971.

She was employed as the nursing supervisor at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, retiring in 1966. She was past President of the Cedar Falls Women's Club, past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, member of the Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, active in the Cedar Falls Historical Quilt Shows, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, where she was a member of the Boardman Boosters Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.

Caroline is survived by her sons, Roger (Ginger) Armstrong of Grover Beach, CA and Rev. Gerald (Phyllis) Armstrong Jr. of Greenfield, IA; daughters, Carol McGough of Iowa Falls and Janice (Arthur) Finke of Waterloo; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and sister, Jennamae Francis of Ackley.

Caroline died Monday, February 20, 2006, at Scenic Manor Care Center in Iowa Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Elizabeth Armstrong; great grandson, Nicholas Armstrong; great-great grandson, Blake Finke; step daughter, Geraldine Marvin; step son, Robert Armstrong; sister, Tena Noble; four brothers, Rudolph, Harry, John, and Robert Rotgers; and son-in-law, Kenneth McGough.
