Leona A. Heth, 90, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Jesup, Fairbank, and Sumner, died Sunday, February 19, 2006, at her daughter's home in Sumner.

She was born December 31, 1915, in Randalia, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Glennin) Handley. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1933 and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls. She taught in rural schools in the Maynard area prior to marriage.
On May 19, 1937, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Heth in Oelwein. He died August 18, 1998.

Leona is survived by two sons, Jerry (Sandy) Heth of Dubuque, IA and Steve (Carol) Heth of Cedar Falls; daughter, Linda (Lawain) Meier of Sumner; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Ron) Broussard, Nichelle, Jaclyn, and Samuel Meier, Jason (Mary) Heth, Sandra Heth, Jessica and Nicholas Heth, Stephanie (Geep) Prescott, and Eric Heth-Young; four great grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Yasi, and Reese; sister, Irene McConville of Laguna Niguel, CA and several brothers and sisters in law.

Preceding her in death were here parents; husband, three sons, Duane, James, and Dale Heth; five sisters, Katherine Rummel, Stella Schultz, Mary Sullivan, Eva Handley, and Mabel Leyh; and brother, Robert Handley.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with interment in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and one hour prior to the services at the church.
