CLEAVER, Virginia A. 1936-2007

CEDAR FALLS - Virginia A. Cleaver was born November 6, 1936, in Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Cleo and Gertrude Akers Bowser.

On August 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Cleaver, Jr., in Arkansas City.
After high school, Virginia furthered her education, earning her associate degree in Medial Clerical Transcription.

She was a former member of the Northeast Iowa Spinners and Weavers Guild, and was an award-winning participant selected for numerous juried art shows. She also provided demonstrations for schools in the history of spinning and weaving.

Virginia was a former member of the Turkey Foot Long Rifles, and enjoyed participating in many 1750 to 1850 historical reenactments.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Richard A of Marion, Iowa, and Phillip F. of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Betty (Eldon) Greenhagen of Newkirk, Oklahoma, and Ramona (Jerry) Wilde of Collinsville, Texas; and a brother, Roger (Janice) Bowser of Newkirk.

Virginia died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at her home as a result of diabetes.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
