DENVER — Post-prom activities for Denver High School reached a tragic conclusion early Sunday morning when a senior student was killed and six others injured in a two-car, head-on collision just south of town.

Gregory D. Glaw, 18, 6243 Cutler St., Waterloo, was killed in the accident, caused when his car crossed the center line on Highway 63 about 5 a.m., hitting another car carrying six other Denver High School students, according to the Bremer County Sheriff's Department.

Glaw, who lives several miles south of Denver, was apparently on his way to go fishing after attending the school's prom at the Conway Civic Center in Waterloo the previous night, according to authorities. The six in the other car had left a no-alcohol, after-prom party at the American Legion Hall in Denver and were driving to Waterloo for breakfast. Glaw had not attended the post-prom party, authorities said.

Glaw was killed instantly, according to sheriff's officials and was taken to Waverly Municipal Hospital. The other six were taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo with multiple injuries.

Listed in serious condition this morning in Waterloo is Paul R. Robe, 16, of Denver, the driver o; the second car. Also listed in serious condition is Troy Midthus, 18, Denver, and Tamara Guenther, 16, rural Denver. Kelly Hannan, rural Denver, and Leslie Wooldrik, 17, Denver, were listed in satisfactory condition this morning. The sixth passenger in the Robe car, Tamara Smith, 16, 7443 Moline St., Waterloo was treated and released Sunday.

Claw's funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the high school gymnasium. Glaw was a "good football player," who was a running back and linebacker, according to Knudson. Glaw had transferred.from Parkersburg two years ago. The others involved in the crash were juniors.
