Word has been received that Pfc. Robert W. Deyo, 19, of Waterloo, was killed in action in the Dak To sector in Vietnam Friday. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Deyo, 447 Cataract Ave., were notified of the death Sunday evening. Deyo had been serving in Vietnam with the Army since August.

He is survived by his parents, wife Dianna Lynn, and infant daughter.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Pfc. Deyo, who was stationed in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division, was reported killed by a gunshot wound while his unit was on a combat mission. A military spokesman reported Deyo's unit was engaged in a firefight with hostile forces when he suffered the fate wound Friday.

Funeral services for PFC Robert W. Deyo, Jr., 20, of 447 Cataract Ave. will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First
Evangelical United Brethren Church with the Rev. Raymond Russell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

PFC Deyo was killed in action Nov. 17 while serving with the army in Vietnam. The body is scheduled to arrive at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home Friday evening.

PFC Deyo was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Waterloo, the son of Robert W., Sr. and Alice Jones Deyo. He married Dianna Lynne Greenley Sept. 15, 1966 in Coeur d'AIene, Idaho. He was associated with his father in Deyo and Company, Inc. of the Black Hawk Building before entering the army. A 1965 graduate of West High, he attended Westmar College, La Mars. PFC Deyo was a member of the First EUB Church and of DeMolay, a young men's order of the Masonic Temple.

He is survived by his widow; a two-month-old daughter. Yvonne Marie; two sisters, Miss Bette Nan Deyo and Miss Dionne Marie Deyo, both at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs, Robert W. Deyo, St. of 447 Cataract Ave.; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Cora Updegraff of 604 Kimball St.; and paternal grandfather, Jack Deyo of Freeport. Ill.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother.

The family has asked that those wishing may give memorials to the church memorial fund in memory of PFC Deyo.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at First EUB Church for Pfc. Robert W. Deyo, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Deyo, 447 Cataract Avenue, who was killed in action in Vietnam.

The Rev. Raymond Russell, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Friends may give memorials to the church.

Military rites at graveside will be by Company C., 410th Infantry of the U. S. Army Reserve. The casket, which will not be opened at any time, will be taken to the church at noon from the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.
