CEDAR FALLS — Rollin Arthur Hoffert, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Center, Cedar Falls.

He was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Colfax, son of Arthur and Kathryn Hummel Hoffert.

He attended Newton High School. Mr. Hoffert was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. Before his retirement in 1988, he was a tool and die maker at H & H in Cedar Falls and Traer Manufacturing in Traer. He was a member of the AMVETS, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, El Kahir Cycle Patrol, North Shore Boat Club and Main Street Social Club.

Survived by two sons, Gene (Susan) and Mick, both of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Deborah (Doyle Hansen) Meade, and Joni (Randy) Hoffa of Council Bluffs; 12 grandchildren, Matt, Todd, Scott and Amy Hoffert, Molly, Tanner, Katie and Travis Meade, Marshall Hoffert, Jacob and Jordan Hoffa and Sarah Rathbun; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlene Johnson and Sandra Sanger Elliott, both of Grinnell.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and James; and two sisters, Genevieve Doane and Helen Owens.

Memorial services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
