A 19-year-old Waterloo woman became the ninth traffic death of the year Friday, morning in a two-car collision at the intersection of Ansborough and Downing Avenues.

The woman was identified as Mrs. Daniel Becker, 19, of 927 Alabar Ave., whose body was taken to Schoitz Memorial Hospital following the accident which occurred at 8:41 a.m according to police.

Husband in Vietnam - Mrs. Becker was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Christensen of 427 Cottage Grove Ave. Her husband, who left two weeks ago for service in Vietnam, was to be notified.

In the woman's purse was an un-mailed letter to her husband.

The fire department's porta power unit was used at the scene of the accident to free the woman's body from under the dash where she apparently was pressed on the impact of
the collision.

Her car traveled a half-block, about 175 feet, after it collided with the second vehicle involved. Mrs. Becker's car hit a slight embankment in the alley and the car stopped just short of hitting an adjacent garage.

Police identified the second driver involved as Robert Kelso Oliver, 51, of 2427 Wenner Dr. He was uninjured at the time of the accident. Mrs. Becker was driving east on Downing and Oliver was driving north on Ansborough.

Investigating officers said Mrs. Becker apparently was on her way to work at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was reported dead at the scene, and according to police was six months pregnant.

Funeral arrangements for the former Jean Ann Christensen are pending at Oppold Funeral Home.
