WATERLOO — James G. Edgar, 78, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Country View Care Center.

He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Fredericksburg, son of Paul and Elizabeth Schoonover Edgar. He married Monica J. Donahue on December 8, 1961 in Hudson.

He graduated from Fredericksburg High School. Mr. Edgar worked for John Deere and Company for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a U.S Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; three daughters, Marilyn (John) Peters of Manson, Malinda Rigdon and Mitze (Ross) Billings of Waterloo; three sons, James (Sandy) Edgar, Jr. and Jeff Edgar, both of Waterloo and John Edgar of Waterville; 12 grandchildren, Justin, Jason and Jordan Peters, Jared Rigdon, Justin and Jacob Matthias, Mindy, Megan and Joshua Edgar, Micah and Jackson Billings and Maggie Edgar; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie (Lowell) Granneman of Waverly and Pat (Dale) Cutsforth of Arkansas; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Edgar of New Hampton and Nancy Edgar of Texas.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Bill; a sister, Gloria Pierce; and a son-in-law, Ron Rigdon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with full military honors by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel and an hour before services Tuesday at the Church.
