WATERLOO - Margaret S. Simmons, 86, of Waterloo, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Orleans, Neb., daughter of Philip J. and Josephine Kass Thoma. She married Leslie W. Simmons on July 23, 1946. He died June 3, 2004.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jane Wiggins (Michael) Armstrong and Debbie (Joel) Mattix, both of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Erin Wiggins, Dustin Wiggins, Nicholas (Anna Anderson) Barnett and Benjamin Barnett; three great-grandchildren, Colyn Miller, Amber Miller and Zachary Barnett; four brothers, Leander Thoma of Gilbertville, John Thoma of Waterloo, Clyde Thoma of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Joseph (Lorraine) Thoma of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Bertha (Don) Gibbons of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Thoma of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Roland Thoma and Nestor (Emma) Thoma; two sisters, Sister Mary Josephine and Sara Thoma; and three sisters-in-law, Betty Thoma, Cecelia Thoma and Augusta Thoma.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
