Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kearns- Dykeman Chapel for Mrs. Ethel M. Benson, 82, former Waterloo resident who died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Extended Care Unit of Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence of a heart condition. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday.

She was born in Star, Neb. .on April 10, 1888, the; daughter of Aaron and Martha Dudley Harris. She married William H. Benson in 1906 in Center, Neb.

She operated the Dairy Cattle Congress restaurant from 1921 until 1959 and assisted her husband, who was superintendent of grounds for the Dairy Cattle Congress for more than 20 years. Mrs. Benson and her family resided in the house on the Cattle Congress grounds.

She was a former, member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Ladies of the Moose
and Woman's Business Association Mrs. Benson resided in Waterloo until 1948 when she moved to Lamont where she resided until going to Independence in 1968.

She is survived by two sons, Lloyd W. of Omaha, and William H. of Littleton, Colo., two daughters, Mrs. Fern Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Mary Newell of Hammond, Ind., three brothers: Marion and Lester Harris both of Burlington, and Harvey of Dickens, Neb., one sister, Mrs. Violet Diggins of 516 Upton Ave.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one sister.
