Friends of Robert L. Hoagland, 43, of 415 Hillcrest Road, may call at Oppold Funeral Home, where service are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Hoagland, who died at 1:10 a.m. Monday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries received in a car accident near Horton on Sunday, had been owner and operator of the Wolf Den Market since 1965 and was the first vice president of the Black Hawk County Retail Grocers Association.

He was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Jay County, Ind., to Elsworth and roxie Peterson Hoagland, and served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He married Pearl Rue in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 6, 1947. In addition to his association with the county grocers' association, he was also active in the Iowa Retail Grocers' Association and was affiliated with Trininty American Lutheran Church, and the Elks Club.

Mr. Hoagland is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cheryl and Cindy, at home; his parents, now of Dunkirk, Ind.; three brothers: Denzel of Redkey, Ind., Howard of Muncie, ind., and Carl of Mundelein, Ill.; three sisters: Mmes. Marcile Thornton of Indianapolis, ind., Elmyra Brown of Bluffton, Ind., and Ruth Geraldine Hernley of Anderson, Ind.

Funeral services for Robert L. Hoagland, 43, of 415 Hillcrest Road, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. R. E. Retzlaff officiating. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery. Mr. Hoagland died early Monday as the result of injuries received in a car accident Sunday morning. The body will be taken to the church from-Oppold Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Robert L. Hoagland, 43, of 415 Hillcrest Road, died early Monday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital following injuries suffered in a one-car accident Sunday.

Mr. Hoagland who owned the Wold Den Market at 185 W. 11th St., received fractured vertebrae, broken ribs, a fractured shoulder blade, head lacerations and internal injuries in the crash of his car two miles east and one mile north of Horton at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Iowa Highway Patrol, Mr. Hoagland was west bound on a blacktop road when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. The car slid through an intersection and crashed into a 15-foot ditch. He was not discovered for some time. it was reported. An ambulance was dispatched from Waverly about 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Hoagland was transferred to the Waterloo hospital where his death occurred at 1:10 a.m. Monday.
