Lucille Evelyn Qvern, 93, of Waterloo died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at ManorCare of natural causes.

She was born May 23, 1914 in Cresco, daughter of Albertus and Henrietta Tillapaugh Dawley.

She married Leon Troyer and they were later divorced. She then married Donald Henry Qvern Aug. 6, 1947 in Honeywell Mo. He preceded her in death March 21, 2003. She worked at Waterloo Industries during World War II and she was also employed by Rath Packing Co. She was a Corps Cadet counselor Girl Guard leader Sunday school teacher member of the Home League and also pianist at the Salvation Army for more than 45 years.

Survived by two daughters, Cheryl Shannon and Sharyn Forbes, both of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law Marlene Troyer of Waterloo; eight grandchildren: Kyle (Janet) Troyer of Des Moines, Kandi (Dean) Anderson of Urbandale, Kent (Nancy) Troyer of Pensacola, Fla., Kurt (Tammy) Troyer of Runnells, Shari Gates of Waterloo, Shelly (Duane) McNulty of Marion, Wendy (Jeff) Smith of Evansdale, and Kimberly Forbes (Darrel Davis) of Waterloo; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maizie Bickley and Doris Quinn, both of Waterloo and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Donald Troyer in infancy and Ronald Troyer; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Forbes, and a great-grandson Thomas Anthony Taylor.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Salvation Army Citadel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday Dec. 9 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
