WATERLOO — Bertha M. “Bert” Hartman-Harvey, 84, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Pontiac, Mich., daughter of Winfield S. Sr. and Mildred M. Kelch Boyle. She married Charles K. Hartman in 1947 in Pontiac, Mich. He died Oct. 27, 1975. She married Thomas “Tom” E. Harvey May 19, 1989, in Evansdale.

She was a social worker with the Department of Human Services for 15 years, retiring in 1988.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Charles Hartman Jr. of Davenport and Edward (Julie) Hartman of Montezuma; a stepson, Steven (Linda) Fogarty of Farmington; two stepdaughters, Becky (Tim) Frisch of Grundy Center and Beth Ann (Kent) Zingg of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Andrew (Ann) Boyle of Goodrich, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two grandsons; six brothers, William, Leo, Duane, Winfield Jr., Frank and Patrick Boyle; and three sisters, Janette Covington, Margarite Caswell and Evelyn Jones.

Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Saturday, without the body present.

Memorials: may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Bertha was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church for more than 50 years and was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul for 15 years. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and loved her family.
