Gilbert Isley, 76, Taken by Death at Cedar Falls

Gilbert Isley, 76, died at his home at 325 West Fourth Street at 12:30 p.m. yesterday of coronary thrombosis. He had been confined to his bed for about two weeks following a two-week period spent at Sartori Memorial Hospital after he had suffered a heart attack about four weeks ago.

He was a retired farmer and was born at La Motte, Iowa July 14, 1874, son of James and Alice Isley. On December 24, 1895, he married Anna Jane Thompson at La Motte and they engaged in farming that locality. Two sons were born to this union. In 1913 they moved to Cedar Falls and located on a farm a few miles west of town, Mrs. Isley died here January 18, 1920.

March 23, 1931, Mr. Isley married Mary Chapman of Waterloo, and continued operating his farm until 1937, when the couple retired and moved to the house at 325 West Fourth Street. For several years Isley worked as janitor at the Humbert School but gave up that work about three years ago.

Surviving besides the widow are two sons by the first marriage, Clifford , Route 2 and Lester, Route 3, Cedar Falls. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one brother, E. J. Isley of Cedar Falls.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at the Dahl Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, conducted by Dr. H. D. Temple of First Methodist t Church assisted by Rev H. F. Clark, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The body is at Dahl's Funeral Home.
