WATERLOO — Susie F. Devine, 98, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Waterloo, daughter of Jacob and Scholastica Schell Degenhart. She married Dale L. Devine on June 5, 1937, in Waterloo. He died October 21, 1980.

Mrs. Devine and her husband owned and operated D & S Luncheonette on Sycamore St. for ten years. She later was employed at the John Deere Supervisor Club for twenty years.

Survivored by: two daughters, Karen Jensen of Waterloo and Janice Peters of Marshalltown; six grandchildren: Laura (Keith) Hennessey of Urbandale, B. Filip Peters of Des Moines, Lisa M. Peters of Marshalltown, Kelly (Greg) Braga of Radcliffe, Jennifer Sue (Doug) Hazen of Waukee and Holly Nicole Peters of Des Moines; and nine great-grandchildren: Samantha Hennessey, Rebecca Hennessey, Brett Hazen, Avery Sue Hazen, Cael Hazen, Tahlia Hazen, Elias Jakob Hazen, Katelyn Dale Braga and Ian Braga.

Preceded in death by: her parents; five sisters: Elizabeth Betty (Lynn) Bretchbill, Ann (Joe) Kauzlarich and three in infancy; and a brother.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of the arrangements.
