WATERLOO — Russell Eugene Teisinger, 81, of Davenport, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, May 10, 2013, of heart failure.

He was born May 6, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Christopher and Rebecca Padget Teisinger.

Mr. Teisinger served in the U.S. Army and earned a degree from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, (now the University of Northern Iowa) and finished with a master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. He started his teaching career in 1958 at Frostproof, Fla., as a history teacher and helped coach the football team. He then went to Winter Haven High School as assistant principal and later served as principal at Haines City High School, Lake Wales Middle School, Fort Meade Elementary, retiring from Alta Vista Elementary.

Survived by his longtime companion, Linda Tyler; four sons: Chris Eugene and Randall Alan, both of Winter Haven, Fla., Lance Harold of Dunkerton and Jason Kyle of Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Cindy Renee Costa of Roseville, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Kenneth.
