Donald J. Betz

Services for Donald J. Betz, 78, of 3303 Covina Drive, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mr. Betz died of heart failure Sunday afternoon [Aug. 21] at his home.

He was born October 26, 1909, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, the son of Antone and Esther Molstrom Betz. He married Gertrude Colvin on June 29, 1931, in Waverly.

He was employed with John Morrell and Co. for 30 years, retiring as plant manager in 1972.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Tony of Nashville, Tenn., Robert of Belleview, Wash., John of Solomon, Kan., Jim of Tacoma, Wash., and Dennis of Farmington, Minnesota; two daughters, Marlene Jacobson of Waterloo and Judy Martinowsky of Fairfax, Virginia; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Marian Summerhays of Waterloo, Marguerite Berndt of St. Paul., Minnesota., Betty Betz of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Ruth Guck of Elgin, Illinois; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and John.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday.
