CEDAR FALLS, G. Allan Powell, 89, of the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, formerly of New Hartford died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born July 24, 1918, in Dysart, Iowa, the son of William and Ruth Adeline (Yost) Powell. He served is country in the United States Army during World War II. On December 4, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mabel E. Christensen in Colorado Springs, CO. He farmed in Dysart until 1948, in Hudson until 1950, Phoenix until 1951, Longmont, CO until 1953 and from 1954 until retirement he farmed in New Hartford and also worked at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo until the plants closing.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; four daughters: Elaine M. (David) Reents of Wellsburg, Jan K. (Jim) Cox of New Hartford, and Marilyn J. Powell and Marcia D. Laudick, both of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Alcorn and Pauline Hoeppner; and brother, Paul Powell.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, where family will be present from 5 to 7, and 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church or Western Home Communities. Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls is in charge of arrangements.
