WATERLOO — Robert W. “Bob” Dallenbach, 88, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo.

He was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Sumner, son of Cecil and Linda Niedert Dallenbach. He married Rudina Potratz on Dec. 23, 1951, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Westgate; she preceded him in death in 1978.

Mr. Dallenbach served in the U.S. Army during World War II in occupied Japan. He was a U.S. postal carrier in Waterloo for 30 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by a daughter-in-law Karen Dallenbach of Decorah; a son-in-law Mark (Rhonda) Huebner of Readlyn; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen (Howard) Treloar of Waterloo; and a brother, Wayne (Neva) Dallenbach of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; a son, Randall; two daughters, an infant daughter, Robin, and Rhonda Huebner; a granddaughter; and an infant sister, Marion June.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Visitation will be for an hour before services Thursday at the church, under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the American Legion, Westgate.
