WATERLOO- Carl M. Johnson, 86, of Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, December 5, 1996, at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines of heart failure.

He was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Portage, Wis., son of Martin and Leta Drake Johnson. He married Beatrice Patzel on oct. 16, 1939, in Madison, Wis., she died Dec. 6, 1979.

Mr. Johnson was employed as a salesman for Flintcote for many years until retirement.

Survived by a son, Dr. James C. Johnson of West Des Moines; two grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, with burial Monday at Rose Lawn Memorial Park, Monona, Wis. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Saturday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. There will be additional visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home, Madison.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
